Luckily, because of working in a financial firm, the concepts in Level 1 were either known or logical for me. So, I worked steadily towards finishing the syllabus.
My exam center was Hotel Hyatt at Kharadi. I was surprised to see so many exam candidates in the early morning. And this was only level 1! Level 2 and 3 were to be held in different and progressively smaller venues, because only 50% or so candidates would go on to the next level, thus reducing the candidate pool.
The exams were alright. Objective questions were always my favorite, and this exam too proved no exception. When I came out of the exam, I was confident that I had cracked it. The daze of ‘no more study!’ was so much that I left my rikshaw away from my home and walked my way back, taking in the sights of the world.
The result was to arrive by email at 7.30pm IST. I kept on waiting for the mail, refreshing the mail page endlessly. At midnight, finally the elusive sleep came but the mail didn’t. I was mindlessly browsing social media early the next morning, where I read that one could get their result on the CFA website too. I rushed to the website, which gave me the pleasant news that I had cleared Level 1. While it was as expected, it was still joyous news.
This time I had no reason to question whether to appear for the exam. I paid the fees in time and started reading the books to prepare for level 2.
